... we can’t believe this is the same boy.

When our son was in Grade 5, he was struggling with spelling, reading and writing on a daily basis. We discussed this problem with his teacher who indicated there really wasn't a problem and that, "some kids just can't spell". Not being satisfied with that response, we looked for alternatives to help our son. We had him tested for learning disabilities (which he didn't have) and Spell Read was recommended to us by our doctor. We were a little afraid at first because we weren't sure we would get the results we were looking for, after all, how could 80 hours of this program change six years of struggling with spelling? It was a gamble that we took and it definitely paid off. Spell Read has improved our lives forever.

Before our son started the Spell Read program, he would spell 7 or 8 words out of 10 incorrectly on his weekly spelling pre-test. We would spend at least half an hour each day memorizing the words and ensuring he knew them all for Friday's test. It caused daily frustration for both our son and for us because we didn't understand why he couldn't get it and why this was so difficult for him. He would get the majority of the spelling words correct on his Friday test, but on Monday (or maybe even Friday afternoon), he wouldn't have a clue how to spell the words. We were just so frustrated all the time.

We started our son in the SpellRead program in July, 2001, doing the first 40 hours during a summer program. When he started grade 6, he continued to complete the program. I'm happy to report that I haven't had to study spellings with him since October, 2001 in his grade 6 year and he usually gets 100% on his pre-tests and his tests. His reading and writing have improved immensely and we can't believe this is the same boy. On top of that, his self-esteem went through the roof, he likes school better and he is generally much happier.

Thanks Spell Read - Life is good!
